The Budget Review Committee assists the Treasurer in preparing and reviewing the annual budget, and recommends updates to financial Bylaws where appropriate. The committee, Chaired by the Treasurer, consists of three other Executive Board Members and three Members-at-large and meets as needed.

Bylaws Committee

Standing Committee

The Bylaws committee is responsible for the maintenance of the Local’s Bylaws. This committee also provides the necessary communication to the membership pertaining to the Bylaws including but limited to proposed amendments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide Toronto Education Workers/Local 4400 with current and updated Bylaws that are pertinent,
  • Communicate information regarding local’s Bylaws.
  • Update bylaws so that they are reflective of the CUPE Constitution
  • Make every effort to Provide reasonable, easy to read and understand guidelines or documents that are pertinent to the Local’s objectives and goals.
  • Respond to All inquiries or requests by the Local’s Board or membership in a timely and objective manner.
  • Meet on a regular basis

Standing Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for providing informational sessions and professional development training for members. Throughout the school year, the committee plans, organizes, and facilitates workshops on pertinent topics that support members professionally and personally. The Committee collaborates with the greater communities to address social inequities.

The Committee meets monthly and possibly more to prepare for special events.

At Toronto Education Workers/Local 4400, Equity means fair treatment, Accessibility, and Opportunities for all Members. We address Systemic Inequalities and ensure everyone has the support they need to succeed. 

We promote Equity & Diversity in all our workplaces and advocate for fair policies in hiring, promotions, benefits, and working conditions, regardless of background! 

We offer training sessions on Equity and Inclusion and push our employer to do the same. We support Diverse Leadership and initiatives for representation within Union Leadership. 

We engage with Community Organizations and Politicians to tackle broader social Injustices. Feedback from Members informs our actions and policies, helping to create a more Equitable environment and strengthening our Union’s Vision & it’s Mission!!
